POWERSPORT Strength & Conditioning

If you're reading this then there's a good chance that you're serious about training.  If you are, then please read on but if you're not serious and committed then click away because at PowerSport we are all about real Strength and Conditioning Training.  The training programs are developed by Ed Cosner, a World Class Strength and Power Athlete in his own right and who has worked his ass off to become a World Class Strength and Conditioning Coach. 

 

PowerSport Strength and Conditioning was born in summer heat of San Antonio, Texas in 1988 when several members of the San Antonio Spurs approached Ed after they had watched him train at a local high school football stadium and at the famous Olympic Gym.  This was at a time in sports when basketball players especially NBA players were told to stay away from strength training.

PowerSport is now an online resource and delivers forgotten aspects of Strength, Power, Quickness and Fitness with the world.  Ed is also available for limited private or group training sessions and seminars. 

 

With more than 40 years experience in actual competitive strength sports and a powerful education it's no wonder that Ed can boast of creating world class athletes.

  • Philosophy

    At PowerSport I move beyond the Hype of Training Fads and focus on Strength, Power, Speed and Conditioning all of which are the Foundations of Championship Performance with the single goal of creating of Champion Athletes both on and off the field by using proven scientific principles and a coach's eye developed over 30 years of coaching.  By applying expert tests and evaluations and taking into consideration short and long term goals, I write trainings program that is tailor-made to the individual athlete.


    I work with the athlete to ensure that gains made in training show up in the heat of athletic competition.


    I motivate and teach the athletes in my care to be great both on the field and off. I truely believe that lessons and experiences in sport can have a huge impact on the development of the whole person over their lifetime.   


    As an athlete your time is valuable. Train with an experienced coach to build your explosive strength, power, quickness, mulit directional speed and fitness in a way that will not only enhance your performance in sport but also aid in your ability to resist or reduce the severity of injury.

    Having played and now coaching in professional and elite level sports, Ed knows what it takes to lead and propel individuals to the next level of athletic performance. For years, Ed has taught and trained with the single goal of bringing out the best in each athlete. By taking advantages of his many years experience and time-tested techniques, athletes find it within themselves to overcome adversity, to find their inner strength, and ultimately to succeed.


    As an internationally recognized Strength and Conditioning Coach with more than 25 years experience creating champion athletes, Ed Cosner's passion for coaching has led him all over the world to coach with and to learn from the best coaches out there.


    It’s often been said that “I write or tell stories of training fiction to make a point about training reality” which is close to the truth although much of what I talk and write about is truth but the names, dates and places have been changed to protect the innocent and the guilty alike.

    • Owen Franks -  2011 IRB Rugby World Cup Champions New Zealand All Blacks and Crusaders of the Super 15 Rugby League; Northhampton Saints (Premeirship League); now with Hurricanes of Super Rugby 
    • Sean Elliott - San Antoino Spurs - responsible for Sean's 'Return to Play' following kidney transplant surgery. Sean was the first professional athlete to return to sport following transplant surgery.
